If what you're looking for is a Slay The Spire clone with a new luck+strategy mechanic thrown into the mix then this game might be for you The problem I have with it is that it's TOO similar to its inspiration. It looks and feels like STS in every way; just with this tile board shoehorned in. And the new mechanic isn't interesting enough to carry the weight of all that, in my opinion.
Quite a fun game! It basically mix deckbuilder with a match-3-like ressource collection mechanic(it's more about moving pieces and doing the longest connection of the ressource you need in one go), and it DO succeed at making that formula works well in a way that feel cohesive and not artificial. each of the 3 character have significantly different gameplay and even thought the simpler character sounds like the best
Having beat the true ending to Demon's Mirror I think it's a great game. But it can be quite hard to play. You get a choice of three characters and there's two ways to beat your opponents (and yes, you will almost always be outnumbered). One is making use of the cards and the other is matching tiles. You need to make use of both to actually beat the game but you really have to control how much either action costs.
TL;DR This is an enjoyable enough deckbuilder with a twist of chaining items on a board for resources, but with a direct competitor like Across the Obelisk out there, the slower pace of runs, the less innovative map design, lack of character progression, and anemic storylines, you will get the most enjoyment if you prefer the revealed mechanics of new cards and items that happen after multiple runs in the game.
An oddly addicting mix of card play and tile matching. The game takes some strategy to complete the boards. Definitely a way to lose hours at a time.
Fun enough game, but there isn't enough content to justify the price. Would love to see more unlocks, more trinkets, and a greater diversity of strategies.
This game really captures the gameplay and deckbuilding power creep of its inspiration, [i]Slay the Spire[/i]. It has a lot of interesting and fun mechanics that make it really hard to put down.
