A mysterious radio transmission claims that help is inbound. You are Jacob Solomon: leader of a makeshift team trying to survive the aftermath of a devastating asteroid collision. Hot box is extremely small; had to click several times just to leave the area. Tutorial doesn't teach you anything useful. Move stuff around is rather difficult. Control is unintuitive. You can't jump, can't use baseball to hit something, can't run, no impact when you are tired; unimmersive.
Broken game. You get stuck and begin all over again.
This game has too many technical issues. Even after 6 years, the game is buggy. If you get stuck, you have to reload from a sleep save file and lose a ton of progress.
Poor optimisation, lack of support by devs have left lots of bugs in this poor pc port...unless heavily on sale do not buy...
Impact Winter suffers from two sets of problems, poor design choices, and stale game play. Some examples of poor design: 1) wolves can see you from off screen especially in enclosed places like caves, are much faster, and stun you forcing you to do a stupid 'mini game' to shake them off, if you encounter a wolf, even while armed with a rifle, it's a free teleport back to the base and a 'death'. 2) the RNG of the
it would be one of my fav games if not for the count down timer and the few bugs I've encountered. controls could be more responsive, cant reconfigure keyboard for left hand. would recommend and not recommend at same time. the game IS good but just needs fixing.
Really like this game, but I oh SO wished there could be an option or mod to switch TIME off. The countdown for the rescue. The need to constantly care for the other survivors back at the church. What mostly pleases me about this game is the sci-fi exploration of the world, and its great to just go around, dig, climb down into frozen buildings and collect materials. It wasn't a terrible game, just buggy and with a rushed ending sequence. I wish they had fixed the bugs. I'd say it's totally worth $5-10. I honestly do not regret buying it, in fact I'm glad I did.
