User reviews
An edgy 2010s cover-based shooter. The mafia games were never renowned for their gunplay; it's mid at best. I liked the story much more in this one than in the first game. All the driving around gets old fast. Every time you do a mission, you will have to drive across the map back to your home or to meet someone. I feel this destroys the pacing of the game. There is more to do in the open world compared to the first
Mafia II is without a doubt a timeless classic. The story of Vito Scaletta is one of the best narratives in gaming history. The atmosphere of Empire Bay is stunning, and the soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal. However, the Definitive Edition itself is somewhat disappointing. The remaster feels rushed, with flickering textures and distortions, and the overall visual improvement is far less impressive than expected.
